Monster Face Time

Students in Mrs. Copley's art class had the opportunity to Face Time with students at Oakdale Elementary School this morning.  The art students at STMS are using the students' drawings from Oakdale to create 3D Monsters.  The students were able to talk with each other today to ask more clarifying questions to help them with their designs.  We are excited to see the final Clay Monsters!

Spring Pictures

Spring Pictures will be taken tomorrow, Friday, April 25th.  Individual pictures will be taken in the media center.  Buddy pictures will be taken outside of the cafeteria.  If you are taking a buddy picture with someone who is in a different grade, these pictures must be taken before school starts.

Only students who are paying will be able to take pictures.  Please bring your money in the LifeTouch envelope with you.

If you are taking pictures, you must dress in normal dress code uniform.  You are allowed to bring a different shirt to take your picture in.  You will change your shirt prior to the picture and when the picture has been taken, you will return to your normal dress code uniform.

Central Piedmont Submarine Group

The 7th Grade students have been learning about submarines during their study of the Cold War in Social Studies class.  Yesterday the Central Piedmont Submarine Group visited the entire 7th grade and talked about life aboard a submarine as well as the duties they have to make sure our country is safe.  One of our own students was interviewed and appeared on CN2 news last night.

The students were excited to see the drones in action!

Broadway Junior Festival

The cast of Annie, Jr. attended the annual Broadway Junior Festival on April 7th at the Knight Theater in Charlotte.  The students performed a scene from Annie, Jr. and received commentary from professional artists who help write, choreograph, and stage the Broadway Jr. shows in NYC.  The students were especially treated to work with Cindy Ripley who piloted the first production of Annie, Jr. in 1995 and wrote the first director's guide for the show! The day also included watching performances from 14 other school productions, workshops, and lunch in their own private dressing room.

Report Cards Go Home

Report Cards go home today, Wednesday April 2nd.  Please check over your 1st semester grade and your 3rd Quarter grades to make sure they average together to be a 70 or higher.  This means you are passing the class for the year as of March 25th.  Remember that as a 7th grader you must pass all four core classes (math, science, social studies, and language arts) in order to move to the 8th grade.  If you are failing two or more classes, then summer school will not be an option to help you move to the 8th grade and you will need to repeat the 7th grade.  Good Luck and let's finish the year strong!
