Wildcats Continue Their POUNCE!

In the first half, the BANK WAS OPEN for York's seventh grade girls.  The 7th grade Lady Wildcats were tested offensively and defensively, but they passed the test!  S. Gilmore, C. Austin, M. Pendergrass, A. Carter, and C. Venables got the start. With C. Austin in foul trouble, K. Petrovich stepped up big coming off the bench in relief.  The lead changed several times in the 1st half, and the Wildcat's took a 16-15 lead going into half-time.  The second half was a COMPLETELY different story.  The Lady Wildcats clamped down on defense, and stuck to the game-plan.  The final score was 40-18.  The girls only allowed 3 points in the whole second half.  S. Gilmore went 5 for 6 from the free-throw line, and sunk a 3 pointer in the 4th to put a dagger in York.

Scoring breakdown: S. Gilmore 22, M. Pendergrass 9, C. Austin 5, C. Venables 4

Gym rat recipient: C. Venables.  She played excellent defense and dominated the boards despite a drastic height difference.

Next game: Thursday against 3-1 Rawlinson Road

Lady Wildcat Victory

The 7th grade Lady Wildcats got their first victory over the Dutchman Creek Gators.  It was a victory that centered around swarming defense and team work.  In the first quarter, we held the Gators scoreless with Scarlett Gilmore, Cameryn Austin, and Messiah Pendergrass putting pressure on the ball handlers, and Anna Carter and Carren Venables stopping any would be scores at the rim. After the second quarter, the Wildcats started to separate themselves taking a 12 to 4 lead.  The Gators were trying to put something together in the 3rd, until Gilmore dropped a 3 pointer to regain momentum.  The lady Wildcats went 8 for 17 from the free-throw line helping secure a 25 to 15 victory over the Gators.  The "GYM RAT" award was given to Anna Carter for her tough defense and court awareness.  On Monday, December 9th, the team will square off with Sullivan in the first away game of the season (5 PM).

The Mayor Visits

Team 7-3 had the pleasure to meet with Mayor Echols and learn about all the exciting things that are taking place in Rock Hill.  If you are interested in BMX biking, ask someone from Team 7-3 about the wonderful venue that will be in Rock Hill soon.  Also, do you know how much the mayor gets paid in a year?  I wonder if anyone remembers what he said.  The figure is very shocking.
