Dress Down Friday, January 31st
The inclement weather kept us away from school for two days this week, but our dress down day is still on for tomorrow, Friday, January 31st. Bring 5 canned goods or $5 to school with you tomorrow so that you can dress down and help hunger in our town. I look forward to 100% participation from 7th grade.

Girls on Track
SOUPER BOWL OF CARING
From Monday through Friday morning, students are encouraged to bring in EITHER 5 non-perishable food items OR $5 to their homebase teacher.
If a student brings in 5 non-perishable items or $5, they will be allowed to dress down on Friday January 31st.
We seek 100% participation…an achievable and rewarding goal.
We will also be selling black, thick gummy bracelets that say “FIGHT HUNGER” for $1 at all lunches next week.
All $$ and canned goods go to the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen and the St. Marys Food Pantry over on Ogden Road.
Dress Code Changes
A committee comprised of STMS parents, teachers, and administrators met recently to discuss our current dress code and the need to incorporate a few changes. Attached are pictures of the changes that were voted on and implemented. Students are now able to wear a cardigan sweater or a sweater vest of solid yellow, blue, or white during the day. We recognized that students do get cold and although the temperature is set and maintained throughout the day, this recent blasts of frigid temperatures have left us all "out in the cold". These sample pictures provide a vivid example of what is now permitted. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Ms. Ulmer at 803-981-1883. Also, a special thank you to 7th grade SS teacher, Mr. Koterba and one of our students for allowing us to take their picture.

Boeing DreamLearners Field Study
The Boeing Plant in Charleston met some of their future employees today. The rain that we encountered did not put any gloom on our trip. The teachers even left excited.
Saluda Trail set a new paper airplane flight record today while in attendance at Boeing. At the end of our tour the students were placed into groups and given a specific job. They had to work together to build a paper airplane that would fly the farthest under budget. The flight record was set in September of 2011 by a group of ladies from a military school in Charleston. Today, a group of our gentlemen set the new flight record. Way to go!
Congratulations to:
-Chandler S. (finance)
-Anderson K. (Engineer 1)
-Nyierre E. (Engineer 2)
-Michael E. (Mechanic)
-Greyson B. (Materials Management)
- Jackson H. (Test Pilot)
