STMS Class of 2015: Being the BEST we can be!
Seventh and Eighth grade students have been working on creating 3D monsters for the art students at Oakdale Elementary. A reception was held yesterday at Saluda Trail so that the Oakdale students could receive their monsters from the 7th and 8th graders. Oakdale Elementary
students came in to the gallery in front of 7th grade hall and had a brief
discussion about their part in the project and the role our students played.
Dennisa Perry read, "Where the Wild Things Are" to the students. The
students then moved to the sculptures where they met and talked about their
work and the process. Our 7th and 8th Grade students really stepped up and
showed a great deal of pride and accomplishment. They worked hard over a 5 week
period to create 3 dimensional sculptures using the 5th graders drawings as a
blueprint. This is not an easy task! We are so proud of the way our students
really embraced the responsibility of completing these for other students,
knowing that they would not get to keep them. CN2 and the Herald were both
there recording the kids and their reactions. It was really a wonderful thing
to witness. Thank you everyone for your help and support throughout this
process!
During Academy on Monday, May 19th all students who contribute $2.00 may walk outside with their Academy class and wear a hat and t shirt to school. The money raised from the JDRF Walk will be contributed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This is a great way to show how STMS Wildcats can make a difference in someone’ life. Thanks to all those who can contribute and participate! This event is sponsored by STMS Ambassadors.
Students in Dr. Marshall's ELA class have had the opportunity to write letters to Trucker Larry all year. Trucker Larry wrote letters back to the class and the class tracked the places Trucker Larry had visited this year. Trucker Larry came to school Friday, May 2nd to meet the students.
